Pasta 101 – Cavatappi

Cavatappi, also called cellentani or double elbows, is macaroni formed in a spiral tube shape. It usually has rigati (lines or grooves on the outside surface of pasta).

Use in entrées, side dishes, baked dishes or cold salads. Just about any type of tomato-based or cream sauce complements cavatappi. A lot of people use cavatappi to make a more sophisticated version of mac & cheese – it adds a special element to almost any typical pasta dish that uses macaroni.
